We arrived at the Pullman Da Nang Beach Resort around 9:30am. Check in time is usually later in the day, around 2:00pm, however we were greeted and informed that our room would be ready within 30 minutes. At this point we were able to fully take in the vastness and beauty of the resort. The lobby was open air and had a 50 foot ceiling, with a beautiful chandelier in the center. The back of the lobby looked out to the two infinity fountains decorated with large wire dragonflies. The architecture and artwork complimented the atmosphere of the hotel very well. Beyond the fountains was a large infinity pool and then the beautiful private beach. We relaxed in the lobby until our room was ready, with our refreshing welcome drink of blended tea in hand. We took in the view and were truly blown away by the beauty of it all.
We stayed in a double superior room with a view of the property and the ocean. The room was amazing and had tile floors, a marble bathroom and a private balcony. The bathroom had a separate area for the toilet, a large sink and a room for the shower and huge bath tub. The shower was a rain shower, which seems to be pretty standard in most of the hotels that we have stayed at in Vietnam. The bed was a medium firmness and very comfortable. Next to the bed, we were given a pillow menu, which included a selection of four different pillows to suit your sleeping needs. This was truly one of the most incredible resorts we have ever stayed at.
We decided that we would be silly not to take advantage of the resort grounds, so we changed into our bathing suits and headed straight for the pool. We relaxed by the pool for a few hours, enjoyed cocktails from the Azure Beach Lounge and cooled off with the incredible view of the ocean.
We decided to go into the Azure Beach Lounge for lunch as the decor was very cool and was the epitome of a beach bar and grille. We decided to go with the Da Nang Banh Mi, which was prepared a little different than the “street food” banh mi. Inside of the fresh baguette were beef loaf, pate, herbs, chill paste, and papaya pickle. It was served with hand cut french fries, a roasted garlic aioli and a small salad. To drink I had a Creamy Passion Pullman Cocktail with pineapple, passion fruit, orange, and coconut milk and Steven enjoyed a refreshing Azure Iced Tea with ginger, lime and english breakfast tea. We highly recommend this restaurant; although we ate banh mi, it is more known for its seafood, so definitely try that as well. We were very full once we finished up and did not have room for dessert, but definitely try the nitrogen ice cream while you are here. They make it fresh for you and bring a cart to prepare it right before your eyes. If you have never had nitrogen ice cream before, it is definitely a great treat, especially in the hot sun of Vietnam.
We made our way down to the beach to stick our toes in the water and enjoy the beautifully maintained white sandy beach. There are lounge chairs to relax on the beach as well as canopies with additional furniture to use. You can even schedule a massage with the spa on the beach, which is something we definitely wish we had time for.
After spending most of the day soaking up the sun and enjoying the hotel, we decided to venture in to the city of Da Nang, Vietnam. We took advantage of the bath tub and rain shower and then we headed into town. Upon arrival back to our room, we were greeted with cookies and a bedtime story about a princess and her marriage arrangement. We scheduled an airport transfer for the morning and set our alarms, as we were headed to Ho Chi Minh City very early.
We got up early to enjoy breakfast at the hotel before making our way to the airport. It is probably no surprise we had beef pho! I loaded mine up with fresh herbs, chives, dried garlic, chili paste, fish sauce and hot peppers. There was a beautiful selection of local fruit including watermelon, rock melon, passion fruit and dragon fruit. There was a made to order egg station, banh mi station, miso soup, hot food including fried rice, fried noodles with shrimp, sushi, baked goods section, and traditional vietnamese food. There were pork dims that were amazing and the sticky rice was very good as well. They had fresh made yogurt that was some of the best yogurt we have had this trip so far. You can’t go wrong with anything you chose from this buffet breakfast. There is something to fill every craving. We also enjoyed the three layer vietnamese macchiato that came beautifully prepared in a martini glass. Everything was exceptional and when we finished up breakfast we checked out an waited for our ride to the airport.
The airport transfer through the hotel was pretty much the same cost as a taxi, except we were picked up in a brand new BMW 520i with iPads for each of our entertainment during the ride. We had a wonderful stay at the Pullman Da Nang Resort and Spa and highly recommend staying here. We hope to be able to stay at other Pullman locations during future trips.
